M&A Awards

The Financial Times and Mergermarket M&A Awards European 2008 (http://www.ftconferenceslive.com/mergermarketeurope) are awarded on an annual basis to the European advisory companies providing private equity, corporate, banking, accountancy, legal and PR services.  The Awards are being held at the year end to ensure that the majority of deals announced are included for consideration.
The selection procedure is a three stage process. At the first stage the firms are identified according to information from the Mergermarket M&A database. In each award category, the firms are shortlisted according to country/region and both the total volume and total value of announced and completed deals in a given year. Only deals with the deal value greater than or equal to EUR 5 million are taken into consideration.
Then the shortlisted firms are invited to send short submissions outlining why their organizations should win the award they have been nominated for.
During the third stage of the selection process an independent judging panel assesses among others the strategic nature of the deals, their complexity and structure as well as their groundbreaking or novel nature. This forms the basis of their final decision in each of the award categories.

The winners of this year’s awards will be announced on 10 December 2008 at Sheraton Park Lane Hotel in London.
